How to choose a house painting service in Bangalore
Three painters quote you three different numbers for the same flat and none of them explain why. Here is what actually drives the difference, and the five questions that tell you which quote is real.

Compare the scope, not the total
A painting quote is a bundle of decisions: how much putty, which primer, how many finish coats, whose paint, who covers the furniture. Two quotes that differ by ₹15,000 usually differ by one putty coat and a primer grade, not by margin.
Ask every contractor to write the scope line by line: wall area in sq.ft, putty coats, primer product, finish product with its exact code, number of coats, and what happens to ceilings. Once all three quotes are in that format, the comparison takes two minutes.

Prep work is where quality lives
Roughly seventy percent of visible finish quality comes from work you cannot see once it is done: scraping old distemper, filling cracks properly, sanding putty flat, and priming. A contractor who compresses prep can start a day earlier and finish two days sooner, and the wall will show it under evening light within a year.
Ask what happens if the wall turns out to have damp. A contractor with an answer ready has dealt with it before; one who says it will be fine has not.
Check the warranty wording
Manufacturer warranties on premium exterior emulsions run five to ten years, but they cover the paint film, not the application. What matters more is the contractor's own warranty on workmanship: peeling, patchy sheen, or a finish that fails at the edges.
Get workmanship warranty in writing with a duration and a named contact. One year is standard for interiors and reasonable for exteriors on a well-prepared surface.
Labour safety and site conduct
For exterior and high-ceiling work, ask about scaffolding and harnesses directly. Rope-and-plank setups are still common in Bangalore and are a genuine risk to both the crew and your liability as the homeowner.
Also settle the basics before day one: working hours, where the crew eats and washes, whether your society requires ID submissions, and who cleans up each evening.
